Condolences

   My dear friend Loretta, I miss you already. I wish I could pick up the phone and tell you what happened, because that’s what I could always do. Anytime something happened in my life, I could call you and you’d be there to listen and give me support. I met Loretta during the blizzard of 1978. We were neighbors and she watched me attempt to shovel my car out of a snow drift so I could get to the grocery store. She waved to me out the window and asked me what the heck I thought I was doing. When I told her I didn’t have any food, she waved me inside and proceeded to heat up some soup and a grilled cheese sandwich … and we were friends ever since. Loretta and I were almost 30 years apart in age, but we were like girlfriends who always had each others backs. She never judged me, but instead gave me support and advice. After I moved to California, we could pick up the phone and call each other, immediately picking up where we left off as though it was yesterday we’d talked. She used to tell me that I was so much like her (red hair included), that I could be her daughter if she didn’t know better. We would laugh and carry on for hours. My heard goes out to Bob and Chris, Mark and Linda, Evelyn, Norma, Desa and all her grandchildren. She loved you all so much. I love you dear Loretta.    In Loving Memory of Loretta…Also my dear friend and neighbor for many years when I still lived in Indianapolis on Maidstone Road. Loretta lived just upstairs from me and my sister, Connie, and I had so many great times together. I have been to church with her, been shopping, had many cups of tea, and enjoyed her company so much. Several years ago, when she fell down the stairs outside our apartment and she broke her arm, I drove her to the ER in her car and sat with her until she was fixed up. I hated to see her hurt so badly. We have shared our secrets, our lives, our successes and our failures and she was always so supportive and loving. I last spoke to her by phone on Mother’s Day this year when she phoned to thank me for the card I had sent to her. Our conversation was so great and just like old times. I treasure that phone call more than you will ever know, because we both closed with “I love you!” and said our good byes. It’s so hard to think of the pain she must have suffered since then, but I am glad now that she is resting in a more beautiful place. My best regards and condolences to all her family.
